Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday confirmed that the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur as chief minister had been “duly received and acknowledged.”
Governor Kundi posted on X that Gandapur’s handwritten resignation, submitted earlier this week, reached the Governor’s House at 2:30 p.m. and would now go through scrutiny and legal formalities.
The confirmation comes after days of confusion, as the Governor’s House had initially denied receiving the letter. Gandapur, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced his resignation on Wednesday, with PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja confirming that Imran Khan had nominated Sohail Afridi as his replacement.
Before leaving for Dera Ismail Khan, Gandapur bid farewell to his staff and urged quick acceptance of his resignation, warning that delays could hurt the province’s governance and stability.
