Effects not much, i've doing it for hours, maybe 3
The good end explaining: The necklace Nightmare always wore was Dream+Killer's present for him, it can sense the "negative" things, and will break if it's too strong, Nightmare didn't wear it as it'll break, and at the beginning, Nightmare wasn't wear because he haven't, they're all just wake up
And "days" in Dream's line was because Nightmare would rather sleep, reading books, being alone, so he wouldn't waste too much counts of the curse
At the end, Horror was sleeping there take care of Nightmare, not his touch really make Nightmare woke up, he's just wanted to comfort Night
The bad end explaining: if you wonder why they didn't teleport into Nightmare's room, it's because he've used his power to prevent any magic use to get into his room, they've used physical acts to get inside
