Welcome to Xiao's Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and learn new Asian/Chinese recipes.

Chinese five-spice powder is a spice mixture of five spices, used primarily in Chinese cuisine but also used in other Asian and Arabic cookery. It is also very common in India.

Ingredients:
1 Tbsp of whole star anise
1 Tsp of Sichuan Peppercorns, you can also use Szechuan
or Black Peppercorns
2 ½ Tsp of fennel seeds
1 cinnamon stick.
8 whole cloves

Method:
1. Place a dry pan over medium-high heat, place spices in the pan, breaking up cinnamon and star anise.
2. When the fennel starts getting light brown remove from heat.
3. Place in a bowl to cool down for an hour or so.
4. Grind the spice mix until very fine.
5. Store in an airtight container.
