Posting two selfies, the actress beamed from ear-to-ear as she flashed her pink identity card.
She wrote: “From today on, I have a new "identity" card and citizenship! This story started in the year 2000, and by God’s will, little Apple left Malaysia for Singapore. [I] started working here, learnt about life and made close friends, I also started a family and found a home… and experienced a lot. Finally, in 2022, [I’ve] got my pink IC, and from now on, I’ll remain here.”
Many of Apple’s celeb friends including Pan Lingling, Romeo Tan, Michelle Chia and Christopher Lee have congratulated her on her new status as a Singaporean.
Apple got her start in showbiz after coming in second in the Malaysia round of Star Search 1999. She went on to star in many local dramas including Love Is All Around (2007), The Little Nonya (2008) and The Queen (2016).
After dating for eight years, Apple tied the knot with her businessman beau in 2017. Apple has since taken a step back from the spotlight and only makes the occasional appearance in dramas.
Of late, she has starred in Wawa Pictures mini-series It’s All Your Fault as well as 2019 Mediacorp drama Daybreak.

From stateless to citizen: Finally a Singaporean after 50 years
SINGAPORE — Like any Singaporean male, Mr Alexander Franklin Alrivers served National Service (NS), as an infantry machine gunner, and even worked as a Police Coast Guard for 14 years.
The ICA declined to comment on how many stateless people go on to become citizens or how long the process takes. Its spokesman said all citizenship applicants are assessed based on prevailing eligibility requirements, with each application “carefully assessed on its own merits”.
On May 21, Mr Alrivers joined some 140 new citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony at Bukit Batok Community Club. As he sang the National Anthem and recited the National Pledge, he choked back tears at finally being able to call himself a Singaporean.
His immediate goals — to purchase a three-room resale Housing and Development Board flat and start a family with his 32-year-old Vietnamese wife.
After Singapore gained independence, the couple were classified as stateless permanent residents who had lost their foreign citizenship. While their oldest child, born in 1954, was able to obtain citizen status with proof that she was born here, their two younger children, born post-1965, took on their stateless status.

Those not charged or convicted can be stripped of citizenship: Lawyers
SINGAPORE — The Government has the power to strip a naturalised citizen of his citizenship, if it is satisfied that the person had engaged in activities harmful to public safety and order, even if he is not charged or convicted in court.
Lawyers and law academics raised this point while commenting on the case of former S-League player Gaye Alassane, 43, who was served a notice on “proposed deprivation of citizenship” on Thursday (Dec 7).
Pending any appeal, he would lose his citizenship for being “an active and trusted member” of an international match-fixing syndicate. Alassane, who was born in Mali, became a Singaporean in 2003.
In 2013, then-Home Affairs Minister Teo Chee Hean told Parliament that 16 people had had their citizenship recalled for various reasons since 1987, under Articles 129 and 130 of the Constitution.
Once a decision is made to invalidate the citizenship, the person would be served a notice and has 21 days to file an appeal. He will remain a citizen throughout the appeal process, which will be referred to a Citizenship Committee of Inquiry.
If the appeal is denied, or if the person does not file an appeal within 21 days, he would lose citizenship and be rendered stateless.
