As India records a slight uptick in Covid-19 cases, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has urged citizens to remain calm. ICMR DG Dr. Rajiv Bahl attributes the increase to Omicron sub-lineages like LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1 — none of which are classified as Variants of Concern by the WHO. The country currently has 1,010 active cases, with Kerala leading at 430. Most infections show mild symptoms, similar to a common cold. While hospitals have been asked to stay prepared, there's no immediate need for booster shots or updated vaccines.
