Описание: The way that Japanese artists depicted "eyes" in their prints was originally based on Chinese aesthetics. These depictions quickly morphed as Japanese artists like Sharaku, Kunisada, Hokusai, Kunichika and others added their own creative interpretations. Join me for an exploration of different styles of eyes in woodblock prints from the Edo and Meji eras. We'll learn about the intense Kabuki "mie" pose where the actors eyes cross. We'll also discus "sanpaku" eyes, which the Eastern world perceived as showing mental instability.
