Balanced Fertilizers usage in wheat is important to get high yield from wheat new varieties or any variety. Wheat needs of nutrients can be managed like this:
These following fertilizers recommendations are for average fertile soils.
At land preparation: 1.5 bags DAP + 1 bag Sulphate of Potash SOP + 1 bag Urea
Boron 11% @ 2-2.5 kgs can be used at land preparation in mixing with DAP and SOP etc.
Zinc Sulphate 33% @ 6 kg can be used at land preparation in mixing with DAP and SOP.
MOP fertilizers can also be used in wheat.
1 bag of Urea or 2 bags of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate can be used with first or second irrigation in wheat crop.
Nitrogen play vital role in increasing tillering in wheat crop.
Phosphorus is important in elongation of roots, strengthening of wheat stem and increase in grains weight.
Potassium increases the defensive powers of plants against diseases. Potassium also save plants from drought effects on crop plants. Potassium use imporoves wheat grains quality. It induces shining in grains.
Nitrogen and Potassium foliar spray application can fulfil the needs of nutrients especially in poor fertile soils or in sandy soils.
Two spray of 2% solution of Urea at tillering with 10 to 15 days interval.
Two sprats of 2% KNO3 can increase wheat grains yield.
First foliar spray of Potassium is done at booting stage of wheat crop.
Second spray application of potash is performed at milking stage. It is very resonsive stage for potassium spray.
