MIDLAND - Plumbing trucks were stationed near the entrance of the recently shut down Walmart in Midland Thursday afternoon. The large corporation shut down five locations April 13th all at the same time citing the same issue for each, massive plumbing problems.
If you drive by the Walmart on Midland Drive, you’ll now see “temporarily closed” stickers placed over each Walmart sign and plumbing trucks sitting near the front doors.
It’s been ten days since Midland’s Northside Walmart shut their doors unexpectedly. A few residents still make their way past security and inside to the pharmacy. Others drive by slow looking at the caution tape wrapped around the front of the entrance, some even take the time to get out and ask some questions.
“This may be nothing, but this definitely should peak someone’s interest. All I say is this is just kind of weird and creepy,” said one Midland resident.
For the past week, conspiracy theories have fueled the internet.
“I heard that they are making this into a military training facility,” said Samantha, a Midland resident who works across the street from Midland.
The reason Walmart gives for closing is years’ worth of plumbing issues. On Thursday, plumbing trucks showed up on site even though the city states the property has yet to receive a plumbing construction permit.
Midland based Ervin Plumbing tells CBS 7 the location has had many plumbing issues in the past and are on site to quote “assist the Midland Drive Walmart in finding out the cause of their ongoing plumbing problems.”
