If you’re starting seeds, many resources will encourage you to plant more seeds than you will actually use. This is because germination can be inconsistent, so it’s good to have a backup plan in case not all of our seeds are viable. Viability decreases year after year, so in this case I planted 2-3 seeds into each of these pods 🥬🥬🥬 ⁣

However, what do you do if they all germinate at once? 🤨⁣

Despite some of these seeds being over four years old, I achieved 88% germination rates! This is great news, but now I have to make a tough decision: which seedlings do I remove and “thin out”? 😱⁣

The reason we need to thin out the seedling is because they cannot successfully grow this close together. Their roots will compete for resources in such close proximity, and they won’t be able to reach their full potential. Although it hurts, we must remove the smaller, weaker seedlings ✂️⁣
