Day 3 of Project Pilipinas.
1,500 kilometers. Luzon to Mindanao.
After two straight days of rain, the sun finally showed up — and it showed no mercy.
We left Tagkawayan, Quezon under clear skies, but the heat quickly became the real opponent. Long stretches exposed to direct sunlight. Trucks passing by with thick exhaust. The body trying to regulate itself under rising temperatures.
This was a different kind of challenge.
From KM 0 in Luneta to this point, the ride has already seen rain, mud, and climbs. Now it’s heat, sticky air, and uneven roads. Rolling hills that could have been smooth momentum-breakers instead turned into constant resets because of potholes and tight highway traffic.
There were moments of frustration — especially seeing how beautiful the route could be, if only the roads allowed it.
But that’s part of the journey.
Endurance isn’t just about elevation.
Sometimes it’s about heat.
Sometimes it’s about patience.
Sometimes it’s about pushing through conditions you can’t control.
120 KM later, we arrive in Naga.
Day 4 tomorrow.
