Your STRONG journey starts here!!! This is your 20 minute beginner's upper body and abs resistance training workout! We will work through 5 upper body exercises to define and strengthen your back, chest, arms, and shoulders as well as work through 5 exercises to target the abs and obliques for a complete upper body workout in only 20 minutes!
This workout is a great introduction to strength training whether you are brand new, getting back into it, or a more advanced lifter that really wants to review the OH SO IMPORTANT basics to proper lifting form and technique!
The structure for this workout is as follows:
Work timer set for 30 seconds
Rest timer set for 30 seconds
2 total upper body rounds with 5 exercises
1 abs and obliques round with 5 exercises
Between each round you will get an awesome 1 minute to recover
This strength session will be easy to follow along with at home because it only requires a mat and your dumbbells! If you don't have dumbbells, you can use resistance bands as well! I will have modifications on screen so you can easily follow along with either your dumbbells or bands!
During this workout I will encourage proper form and guide you through tips and tricks to make sure you are getting the most out of each rep!
Note that an easy modification to make, if you find any of the upper body exercises too intense, is to work with alternating arms! This will give your muscles just a bit of extra recovery in between reps to allow you to maximize your workout!
Strength training has so many amazing benefits and I am so excited that you have started out on this journey! You will see amazing changes if you are consistent in your training and maintain healthy eating!
As always focus on maintaining proper form and full range of motion, work at your own pace, go heavy enough, take extra recovery when needed, challenge yourself, and of course, make the most of it!
