Patna University, Patna (Bihar), a NAAC Accredited B+ Grade Central/State University established in 1917, has officially released the Ph.D. Admission Notification for the academic session 2026–27 for admission to the Ph.D. Programme (Course Work). Online applications are invited from candidates who have qualified PAT conducted by Patna University or hold valid NET/JRF qualifications. As per the official notice, the last date to submit the online application form is 21 January 2026, and the selection will be strictly subject to the availability of vacancies in the concerned subjects and as per the Ph.D. Ordinance and Regulations approved by the Government of Bihar.

The Ph.D. admission process at Patna University involves online application submission followed by department-level interviews, which will be conducted within one week after the last date of application. A merit list will be prepared based on weightage of marks obtained in the Master’s degree, eligibility status (PAT/NET/JRF), and interview performance. Candidates with JRF will receive additional weightage, and the final merit list will be approved by the Departmental Council in accordance with the reservation policy of the State Government.

The application fee for Ph.D. admission is ₹300 (online), which must be paid during form submission. After provisional selection, candidates are required to deposit a Course Work Fee of ₹2000 online. The Ph.D. course work will commence from 21 February 2026 at the faculty level. The course work consists of two papers in one semester, where Paper I is conducted by the Faculty and Paper II by the concerned Department.
