Sophie and Dickie's wedding at Micklefield Hall in Hertfordshire was a unique blend of artistry and commitment, creating a celebration that reflected the couple's individuality against the backdrop of the venue's rich history.

Nestled in the middle of Hertfordshire, Micklefield Hall boasts a history dating back to the 13th century. With its stunningly manicured gardens (including a lovely rose arch) and timeless architecture, it makes an ideal setting for a wedding. The temple overlooking the pond is a perfect spot for the ceremony to take place, and the award winning, Grade-III listed Tithe barn provided the most stunning space for the wedding breakfast, speeches and party.

PREPERATIONS
The Micklefield Hall Wedding of Sophie & Dickie began on-site, with Sophie and her bridal party getting ready in a lovely loft area. With some lovely natural light, it made for some lovely shots of the preparations. It may be no surprise to find out that Dickie is a highly-talented tattoo artist, and a number of Sophie’s tattoos were inked by him, so I made particular effort to include some clips of this lovely artistry. Dickie himself had also got some new ink in order to commemorate the day - the ‘Until Death’ on his palms, so I also made sure to include some shots of this.

Sophie’s uncle delivered a great speech, not only in content but also in his professional delivery. One particular point in his speech caught my ear on the day; where he talks about the past, present and future. Not only is this relevant to a relationship, but it also mirrors perfectly the different stages of a wedding highlights film. I knew it would make the perfect opening for the film, and with some lovely shots of the couple overlaid on top it makes for what I hope is an engaging opening. I chose to have this section in black and white as I felt it not only highlighted the amazing tattoo art on both Sophie & Dickie, but also alluded to the past element of what is said in the speech.

THE CEREMONY
One of the most unique elements of a Micklefield Hall Wedding is undoubtedly the ceremony space - a classical style temple overlooking a pond. It makes for a very impressive and aesthetically pleasing shot when filmed from the opposite bank of the pond, whislt also giving the guest a great view of he proceedings.

After walking the confetti aisle for the first time as husband and wife, Sophie & Dickie joined their guests for a drinks reception on the beautifully kept lawns of Micklefield Hall.

HEARTFELT WORDS
As a wedding videographer, I’m always on the lookout for snippets of the speeches that will set the right tone for the film. Sophie’s dad had some lovely heartfelt words about his daughter, and about being a parent in general, which I felt fitted in perfectly with the other audio I included. Dickie too had some beautiful words about his new wife, which served as the perfect transition from the reception section of the film into the evening and party. A quick footwear change (personalised Nikes!) and a choreographed first dance led the guests into a night of partying and celebration, giving this Micklefield Hall Wedding the perfect ending.
