Sor admitted he had an uncommon technique, mainly the right hand. He mentions playing the first string with his middle finger, the second with his index, sometimes moving both down to second and third string, and the thumb works overtime doing all the rest.
He also used thumb and index for faster runs, or slurs. Of course, like all the coolest cats, he played without nails, just the flesh touching the gut strings, as I do here.
He learned a lot from Moretti's tutor, another no-ring finger player. So sometimes I use the index raking down on three strings (#10 for example). Sor did use his ring finger, but only when there was no other choice.
I haven't seen anyone use all these techniques on video or in concert before. I must say I really enjoyed exploring his technique, which is not a million miles away from my own.
