Peter Brock shares the story of the Daytona Cobra Coupe's first race, the Daytona 2000KM in 1964 as seen in this Shelby American Museum poster!
By special arrangement, we are able to offer you these Shelby American Museum. This poster features the innagural race of the Cobra Daytona Coupe at the 1964 Daytona Continental race (the race that gave the Cobra Daytona Coupe its name).
This black and white image shows the first pit stop for the Cobra Daytona Coupe at its first race. Driver Bob Holbert has brought the car in complaining he can smell smoke in the cockpit. A known problem with the roadsters were the rear seals going away on the differential so immediately Jim Culleton, seen here, adds oil to the diff.
The poster reads:
1964 Daytona Continental 200 KM Race - the racing debut of the Daytona coupe prototype CSX-2287. Carroll Shelby gives instructions to driver Bob Holbert during a pit stop while mechanic Jim Culleton adds oil. Left to right along the pit wall are fuel man Tom Greatorex, Dan Gurney, Charlie Agapiou, John Ohlson, co-driver Dave MacDonald, Ken Miles and John Collins.
This poster can be ordered with the option of Peter Brock's signature.
