Mine was OG Waveomatic.
And today is the anniversary of his passing, which was two years ago.

When it comes to dance, and as a person, Waveomatic was one of my greatest hero's and mentor's. He is considered an "OG" in the world of urban street dance, especially in the Popping Culture. He originated in Harbor City, LA County, and started poppin in the early 80's when it was in its prime. Waveomatic was considered a Master and Pioneer in the dance style known as Waving. His style was super creative, abstract, and inter-dimensional. He inspired thousands across the world, teaching and mentoring many dancers of various nationalities, all for free and for the love of the dance. He even helped train some of the best dancers in the world today, including myself.
WaveO was also notorious for sparking controversy in the little political world of Popping Culture. In a time when there was much debate about what the actual definition of what "Popping Dance" is, Waveo was always there to challenge labels. Waveomatic held a philosophy that highly valued creativity and innovation. He believed in drawing inspiration from abstract, unique, and eclectic sources. He personally taught me a lot about the waving style and how far this beautiful art form could go. The Waving Style became my favorite dance style and it was people like Waveo who inspired me to be so creative.
I remember the first day I saw Waveomatic dance, and how my eyes literally fell out of their sockets. I had never seen someone shape shift into a slithery, alien liquid creature in front of my eyes! Waveo had a way of dancing that would warp time and reality right in front of you. He really showed me how far dance could be taken if applied with creativity and uniqueness. Waveo became one of my best friends in the dance world, and we had many epic moments together. He took me under his wing and showed me a lot about not just dance, but reality, and the universe. He was a philosopher, a psychadelic traveler, a proud Greek, a Surfer, A computer nerd, and so much more.
Today, and forever more, his legacy continues to live on through every person who practices the Waving style. His many students will continue to spread his teachings and philosophy to future generations. Whenever we wave, Waveomatic will be there inspiring us through his Spirit.

This Video is dedicated to him, representing the waving style. The video I interlaced over me dancing is the first dance clip I ever saw of him. It was the first day I fell in love with waveomatics style. He told me this was always one of his favorite songs to wave too, and it is mine also.
