Tabula Rasa is the sixth sequence of Echoes. A scientist working at Black Mesa, known only by the designation Candidate 12, finally finds an ally in an HEV-suited Barney. Now on-course to the trapped employee, the duo battles their way through the facility.

Gman doesn't show up in this one. Wait. What the fuck? lmao. Alright, I'll talk about something else then. While I swapped the orange HEV Barney with a blue HEV Barney to fit the stylistically with Azure Sheep (which also featured blue HEV Barneys), this caused a couple problems. The first is that Barney holds a glock in his model, but in the original mod his weapon is a revolver. As a result, his measly glock is extremely powerful and loud, and simply a retextured Magnum. This side effect is unintended but probably not that noticeable unless you have an ear for that kind of thing. Maybe he just put some strong coffee in the gun. The other thing is when the HECU mistakes the security officer for Gordon Freeman. This made sense in the original mod, as both wear orange HEV suits, but in this mod it makes a lot less sense unless the military exclusively recruits the colour-blind. My lore-cope for this is that when in Field Intensity the HECU tapped into the HEVs and began tracking them, they still had trouble distinguishing which suit was which, and they just followed them where they were. Maybe they mistakenly assumed Gordon was near the Communications Center to hijack that very tracking, but Gordon ended up being in the decommissioned rail tunnels the whole time, where he was less expected. This could also explain the heavy military presence in this area in the next chapter, they simply made a mistake and it was too late to go back, giving Gordon a win and Candidate 12 and his buddies a hard time. In case you're wondering why this is so elaborate: I've been toying with the idea of writing a script for a mockumentary of the Black Mesa Incident and using mods to fill lore gaps. Something I've been writing, but mostly only planning, on the side. Also, we hear Shephard's doomed broadcast. The skyboxes don't match to the events, but that wouldn't be the first time. Maybe it's a play-back recording, but I'll think about how it all fits together. Also, I legitimately did not notice this until scouting the map for thumbnail shots, but you can actually visit the scientist who gets attacked by Mister Friendly prior to the Black Ops fight, you just gotta use the vents. Found out too late :(

Half-Life: Echoes is a modification of the first-person shooter video game Half-Life created by British developer James "MrGnang" Coburn and released on August 10, 2018. The mod was under development for four years and uses the GoldSrc engine. Echoes is from the perspective of an unnamed scientist from the Black Mesa Research Facility as the resonance cascade happens and has the player fight unused monsters and the HECU with the G-Man and "Kingpin" observing the player. As a mod for Half-Life, Half-Life: Echoes is a first-person shooter that differs slightly from the base game. The first part of the game is mainly survival horror, limiting the player's arsenal and introducing monsters, including unused enemies.
