MD Anderson's breast cancer experts pioneered multidisciplinary care, and have changed the way breast cancer is diagnosed and treated, not just here at MD Anderson, but by doctors around the world. Some of these changes developed here at MD Anderson include: combination chemotherapy, new endocrine treatments, new indication for bisphosphonates and targeted therapy, breast conserving surgery following neoadjuvant chemotherapy, sentinel lymph node surgery following neoadjuvant chemotherapy, breast ultrasound for staging, breast MRI and 3D mammography, cobalt-60 radiotherapy, particle-beam therapy, and classification of metastasis in lymph nodes, BRCA testing of women with triple-negative breast cancer, use of PARP inhibitors and chemoprevention, to name a few.
