Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a structured trauma therapy designed to help people get unstuck from distressing memories, triggers, and body-based reactions. In this video, I break down what ART is, how it works in plain language, what a typical ART session can look like, and who it may (and may not) be a good fit for.
If you’re a trauma therapist, this is meant to help you understand the model at a high level without the hype. If you’re a client (or a human trying to make sense of trauma therapy options), this will give you language for what to ask, what to watch for, and how to think about fit, timing, and readiness.
In this video, you’ll learn:
What Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is (and what it’s designed to do)
How ART uses eye movements + imagery protocols to help reduce “here-and-now” reactivity
Why ART can create meaningful shifts in fewer sessions for some clear, specific targets
What ART looks like in the therapy room (high-level overview)
Common misconceptions (ART vs EMDR, memory erasure, “fast = shallow,” and safety/fit)
How to think about readiness, pacing, and support so reprocessing is actually sustainable
Important note: I’m not an ART-trained clinician. This video is education and orientation, not clinical training, and not medical advice. If you’re considering ART, I always recommend consulting with a trained clinician who can assess fit and readiness based on your full context.
For trauma therapists: If you’re carrying the emotional load of trauma work, you’re not meant to do this alone. I created The BRAVE Trauma Therapist Collective so trauma therapists have community, consultation, and real support to stay in the work without burning out.
Question for you: What do you want to know about ART next? Drop your questions in the comments (and if it doesn’t feel safe to comment publicly, you can message me privately).
