Factory resetting a Cisco IP Phone 7841 is a straightforward process, but the steps differ slightly depending on
whether the phone can power up normally or if you need to do it during the boot process.
Method 1: Using the Keypad (Hard Reset)
Use this method if the phone is stuck in a boot loop, you've forgotten the admin password, or the menu is locked.
1. Unplug the power source (either the power brick or the Ethernet cable if using PoE).
2. Wait about 5 seconds.
3. Plug the power back in.
4. Immediately press and hold the Pound (#) key.
Keep holding it until the line buttons (the LEDs on the side of the screen) flash amber/orange.
5. Release the # key and quickly enter the following sequence on the keypad: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 * 0 #
6. The phone will initiate the factory reset.
Do not unplug the phone until it finishes rebooting and displays the main setup screen.
