In the early nineties Shree Shakti mill was incorporated as a non-government textile company and it was closed in 1981. The company owned by Podar family.
The six-acre Shakti Mills property is under the court receiver for several years.The mill was shut down in 1981 and since then the property has been with the official liquidator. The over 22,000 sqm property is in a prime area, close to Mahalaxmi railway station on E Moses Road.It is one of the few defunct private textile mills which has still not been redeveloped.
