The proposed INR 283-crore redevelopment of Dimapur Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has hit a major hurdle due to land encroachment. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio informed the Nagaland Assembly that around 614 families are occupying railway land, complicating expansion plans. The government, district administration and Northeast Frontier Railway are exploring solutions including compensation and discussions with landowners. The station, one of the highest revenue earners in the Northeast, remains a key infrastructure project for Nagaland.
