On June 5, 2002, 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her Federal Heights neighborhood in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The following footage is KSL TV's coverage of the day that Smart was reported missing, which led to a nine-month search for the abducted teenager and the kidnappers, Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Barzee.
