Q1. The sum of two integers is –12. If one of them is 43, find the other.
Let the other integer be x
x + 43 = –12
x = –12 – 43
x = –55
Answer: –55

Q2. The difference of an integer p and –8 is 3. Find the value of p.
p – (–8) = 3
p + 8 = 3
p = –5
Answer: –5

Q3. Add the product of (–16) and (–9) to the quotient of (–132) by 6.
Product = (–16) × (–9) = 144
Quotient = (–132) ÷ 6 = –22
Required answer = 144 + (–22) = 122

Q4. By what number should (–240) be divided to obtain 16?
Let the number be x
–240 ÷ x = 16
x = –15
Answer: –15

Q5. What should be divided by (–7) to obtain 12?
Let the number be x
x ÷ (–7) = 12
x = –84
Answer: –84
