In this patch for the eurorack modular synthesizer (I like adding 'the', makes me feel like a television host from the 60's) we explore two themes / constraints. A small, portable system and the movement of people in a downtown area and the idea of surveillance in a more organic form. What if our CCTV systems were motivated by aesthetic principles. Not that they are not, albeit accidentally, but instead followed a different motivation based on mystery and desire.
So A:
The use of a portable system (in the Intellijel 104hp 7U performance case) that I could take with me and use in on the fly. A very nice addition to this case is the 1U Headphones module, paired with the cases own inputs and outputs + the 1U AUDIO I/O. This duplicating of the already duplicate outputs allows me to either send audio directly out to a sound system or mixer while simultaneously monitoring directly from the system. But what I really like is the possibility of sending audio out to a system and recording the performance directly to a portable field recorder such as the Sound Devices Mix Pre 6 II. In this case, I used the headphone jack to send the audio feed directly to a camera (in this case the Canon C70, to its mic input, and am monitoring the patch through the headphone jack on the camera).
In this patch///
what I missed: a clock divider multiplier. The Make Noise Tempi has been one of the primary distributors of control voltage in all of my patches, it was probably the third module I ever bought and I have always used it. Here I left it out so all clocks came from the Moog Mother 32, which was an interesting limitation to timing.
The two other main oscillators are the Intruo Saïch and Mannequins Mangrove, and sometimes Mannequins Just Friends in Sound mode (Gold Clouds V2).
A new addition is the very nice Joranalogue Contour I, which I thought could replace some aspects of the Befaco Rampage, being much smaller but obviously only one channel and less overall functions. However it has proven to be a very interesting envolpe generator / modulation source in its own right. I still however think that Befaco has the best sliders (i.e most responsive / haptic ) that I have tried.
I think almost all sound sources were going through Mannequins Three Sisters Linked Filters, probably only Magneto after that in the sound chain.
Oh yes, another one that I often forget to mention, XAOC Zadar providing modulation as well.
Of course there are my staples / desert island modules by now : Morphagene and the aforementioned Magneto.
