Gerald Ford: Why we MUST know more about him?

Описание: Gerald Ford is considered a largely irrelevant president in America's history but in this video, Mr. Mitchell attempts to show why we must know more about America's 38th president. Ford's presidency faced a number of similar issues such as rising inflation, expensive oil, negotitating the withdrawal from an unpopular war and perhaps most if all, following behind an extremely controversial president with criminal implications.

Interestingly, at one point it appeared as if Gerald Ford was simply going to retire from politics. However, President Richard Nixon appointed him to be his vice president and just six months later, Ford was in the oval office after Nixon's Watergate scandal. Immediately, Gerald Ford was faced with the decision of whether or not to pardon Nixon.

The video also looks at Ford's foreign policy, particularly his withdrawal from the Vietnam War, the handling of the Soviet Union with the Helsinki Accords and the strong message he wanted to show Israel after they were slow to the negotiating table in the Yom Kippur war. It also looks at the role that Henry Kissinger played in negotiating the East Timor crisis with Indonesia's Suharto.

With Biden's presidency facing fairly similar circumstances, Gerald Ford is a president too important to know nothing about.
