Alexander McGillivray was a Creek leader during the late 1700s. He was born to a Creek mother and a Scottish father, and was fully integrated into both societies. He signed the Treaty of New York in 1790, which gave most of the Creek lands east of the Ocmulgee River tot he United States. But in return, the U.S. agreed to honor the remaining Creek boundaries.
