Putting them down in a letter is no use

那是生命中 最黑暗的旅行
我沒有時間 玩文字遊戲
過去的就讓它過去

That was the darkest journey in my life

最初的規劃可能是一部導覽短片，我會出現在展場介紹這次的作品，畫廊的朋友很貼心地補充說「育賢想彈吉他也是可以的喔」。

雖然說確實有展出一把吉他，但，比起彆扭地在鏡頭前解釋這次的展覽，要我彈吉他好像也沒有比較自在。不過畫廊還是鼓勵我使用這筆預算，並且支持我任何想法。大概是這樣開始的，與其做一部功能性的影片，並隨著展期一同消逝，我更希望它久遠一些；與其去記載一個展覽，不如讓展覽再發生點什麼；與其花時間聽我解釋，不如聽一首歌。

於是我想起了一個故事，想起了一位藝術家，和一首她寫的歌。

那是一首我時常會哼上幾句的歌，煩悶的時候會唱第一段歌詞，難過的時候唱最後一段，如果手上有吉他就會從前奏開始刷起，是這麼一首像隨時放在口袋裡面的歌曲。

非常感謝林以樂接受了這個邀約，也再一次感謝畫廊對我的放任。

能夠用這樣的方式記錄了林以樂演唱《十月 （October）》，在這個展場呈現了這位藝術家和她的作品，我覺得它將會比展覽存在地更久遠一些，不僅是往前的，也同時是往後的。

The initial idea was a short virtual guided tour. In this video, I would talk about the works on view in this exhibition. The staff at the gallery was very kind and told me, "You can play the guitar, too, if you'd like."

Even though there is a guitar on view, playing it doesn't make me feel less awkward than talking about the exhibition in front of a camera.

Nonetheless, the gallery encouraged me to use the budget, and was very supportive of any idea I might have. So that's how everything got started. Rather than making a functional video that will disappear with the exhibition as it ends, I'd prefer for it to last a bit longer. Rather than documenting the exhibition itself, I'd prefer that something more happens during the exhibition. Rather than for the viewer to listen to me explain, I'd prefer for them to listen to a song.

So, I thought of a story, and an artist, and a song she had written.

It's a song I often hum to myself. I would sing the first verse when I'm down, the last verse when I'm sad. If I have a guitar in my hand, I would play from the prelude. That's what it's like to me: a song that I carry in my pocket.

I'm really grateful that Yile Lin agreed to do this performance. I'm grateful that the gallery has once again indulged me.

To be able to document Yile Lin performing October in this way, to present this artist and her work at the exhibition venue, I think it would last a bit longer than the exhibition itself, not merely backward, but also onward.
