Your run will ultimately lead you into the grassy terrain that lies sightseeing-distance away from one of northern France's most notable landmarks: Mont-Saint-Michel, the awe-inspiring seaside monastery rising up above the bay where Normandy meets Brittany, with more modern structures -- hotels, museums, restaurants, etc. -- lining the steep street that encompassing the base of its impressive stone foundation. Even from a distance, you'll wonder at this 10th-century medieval, architectural masterpiece that, local legend has it, served as inspiration for the story of the "Cathedral of Ys", a mythical holy site that was said to rise from the waters each morning, and then sink once again each night. Mont-Saint-Michel is one of Europe's most celebrated landmarks. It's a sight to behold...on a virtual run for the ages!
