The Chapel of the Shepherds' Field, also known as the Sanctuary of the Gloria in Excelsis Deo, is located in Bethlehem in the West Bank in Palestine. It marks the site where angels first announced the birth of Christ. Nearby is the Field of Boaz mentioned in Ruth 2:2, where Ruth gleaned grain for herself and Naomi. Limestone caves which were used as dwellings during the Roman-Herodian time, were found in the area.
