Foley Belsaw Sawmill Powered By Ford 8N Tractor

Описание: They said it could not be done but my Ford 8N is powering the Foley Belsaw circular sawmill.

I purchased this sawmill months ago actually. Since then I have been reading online to find out what is the best way to power it. Some people use a dedicated diesel engine while others use newer model tractors with high HP. But I have not been able to find a single article or video where someone has used an old Ford N series tractor to power a Foley Belsaw.

My mill is very much like the M14 of the 1970s which can be powered by a minimum of 26 HP according to the owners manual. My mill was sold under the Sears Roebuck name and made by Foley Belsaw around 1936. Back then most tractors were way less powerful than the machines we have today.

So I bought a Ford 8N and gave it a shot. I am very pleased that this tractor is powering my mill with no problem.

I am learning and experimenting with this mill since I only just set it up. I am learning how the variable speed feed control works. You can actually vary the feed rate by the pressure on the lever. This helps a lot when you hit a knot or cut through thicker wood.

So here it is, the first video I know about where a Ford N series tractor is powering a Foley Belsaw.
