In today’s video we are going through the essentials to pack in your hyrox race day bag. We are 72 hours out from Hyrox London, this is by pre-packed kit bag,

My hyrox footwear here are at two ends of spectrum, the nike tempo next percent, which I will wear during the race itself, this is predominantly a road running shoe, so for many the stack height on the shoe is larger than you’d ideally want for hyrox race, now It maybe that I switch this shoe in the future, but for now this is what I’ll be competing in.

At the other end the spectrum is we’ve got the vivobarefoot primus lite iii shoe here, it won best workout shoe in Mens health mag last year, it is a barefoot minimalist shoe meaning it has minimal cushioning, this is what I will wear pre-post event.

Puma at the time of recording this video are the official sponsor of hyrox events and the shoe they recommend for racing is the Puma Deviate Nitro, more info on that and the shoe’s I’m wearing and few other recommendation in the video description.

Clothing – My race outfit, comprises a light weight pair of shorts and tank t-shirt, sweat bands and my trusty apple watch to track my split 1KM times for the running. Hyrox events get notoriously warm, so you want to make sure you are not over dressed with too many layers.

The bag itself – I do a lot of research before making big purchases and ahead of getting this ‘build for athletes large rucksack’, I looked at alternatives options and concluded, you can’t beat this bag for size, value and versatility . I’ve got size 12 feet and the bag comfortable fits 2 pair of trainers, clothes and all the other training kit you may need for race day

In here I also have a Water carrying backpack – there are hydration stations dotted along the hyrox race, but that can mean losing valuable seconds or minutes stopping, so I will be wearing this throughout the race.

Fuelling our bodies pre/post hyrox race important – and in my bag I will be packing some electrolyte’s, I will also carry with me two Banana’s for pre and one post race.

In here we also have a regular water bottle to ensure we keep hydrated pre/post race.

Tomorrow following my pre-event registration, I’ll be adding my timing chip, entry band and race number – most hyrox events have a pre-registration event taking place 24-72hrs before your hyrox race. This allows you do all the event registration you would otherwise need to do on the event itself.
