Raceshare horse La Pulga paraded in at the Charlie Johnston Racing stable visit at Kingsley Park, Middleham, North Yorkshire, then headed off to Thirsk Racecourse to race in the 2:35 Vickers Bet Handicap Class 3 over 1m 4f on soft ground. Not ideal conditions for La Pulga and he was stripped bare of his headgear for his first run out finishing a credible 6th of 11.
Interestingly, one of Lionel Messi's famous nicknames is La Pulga, meaning The Flea in Spanish. He had been known by this nickname from a child. It is believed that two of his eldest brothers called him La Pulgita meaning Little Flea which later came to be known as La Pulga.
The trainer of La Pulga, Charlie Johsnton, has a wager with John Quinn, trainer of another Raceshare horse Red Mirage, on which horse of the two will win a class 2 or higher this season. With the flat season now under way, it is getting incredibly exciting with the knowledge of some future entries.
