My fight money!
No, it's fine, I didn't waste my Fight Money on this guy...you'll see that purchase in a bit, by the way. (Man, these characters are EXPENSIVE)
Enter Balrog, one of the Four Kings of Shadaloo, and someone who's been around for quite a while. As I brought up in the Bison video, in Japan Balrog is named M. Bison, like Mike Tyson. Names were switched around and who we know as Vega in the West is called Balrog in Japan...still confusing!
Now, as this prologue shows us, Balrog might work for Shadaloo, but his only loyalty is to himself, and maybe Ed, a child he's cared for...for some reason? By all accounts Balrog is a real asshole, so why he took in Ed is a mystery to me, but I guess it serves as a way to kinda humanize him? Whatever! Just go punch something!
Unlike most of the cast which utilize Ki or some kind of supernatural power, be it the Satsui no Hadou, or Psycho Power, or technology like Juri's eye or C. Viper's gadgets, Balrog is just a dude that can punch VERY hard. Like Little Mac, his entire moveset revolves around punches, to the point that all his Kick buttons are just more punches. Straightforward, but effective!
Balrog's also a charge character, which means you need to hold away from your opponent with the control stick or D-pad or what have you, then quickly flick towards them in conjunction with a button. This means that there's a delay before you can throw one of these moves out again, which serves to balance out Balrog's overwhelming offense. Oh, and his Critical Art is totally a BIONIC ARM.
His V-Skill, KKB (I have no idea if that stands for anything), lets him bob and weave past attacks as a neat dodge, which lets him transition into other attacks. His V-Trigger I, Crazy Rush, lets him chain together more hits with his special moves for a brief time, while V-Trigger II, No Mercy, is a command grab that leads to a lot of punches if he connects it.
Balrog is pretty fun, honestly, despite being pretty limited. He's satisfying, if a little risky to use if you can't get in close, I imagine. So with Bison and Balrog done, that's two Kings down...and we'll get to the other two in due time.
Повторяем попытку...
