In this video you will learn how to find the probability of an event not happening. To do this you need to subtract the probability of the event happening away from 1.
So in example 1 the probability of Andy winning a pool match is 0.7, and you need to find the probability of the event not happening. Do this by doing 1-0.7 which gives 0.3. If you are struggling working this out work out 1.0-0.7 using column subtraction.
In example 2 the probability of spinning a 7 on a spinner is 0.38, and you need to work out the probability of not spinning a 7. Again work out 1-0.38 which is 0.62. If you can’t do this in your head work out 1.00-0.38 in columns.
In example 3 the probability of picking a blue ball from a bag is 3/8 and you need to find the probability of not picking a blue ball. Do this by working out 1-3/8 which is 5/8.
