The Shackleton impact crater at the South Pole of the Moon is the promising object in a context of potential water resources for future expeditions. Based on this video and data in the research article we can:
1 reconstruct of the history of the lunar landforms formation in the context of mass displacement
2 assess the water accumulation intensity on different lunar landforms.

Methods:
A digital elevation model (DEM) with 20 m lateral grid spacing was constructed for the area around the crater Shackleton based on the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA) data. Our team build the most accurate DEM of the crater Shackleton!
Shaded relief maps were made in the analytical geo informational system (GIS) Eco. This soft was developed by Peter Shary especially for the digital terrain analysis.
Perspectives:
The slope deposits in permanently shaded regions are commonly accepted as potential reservoirs of frozen volatiles (e.g. Thomson et al., 2012; Zuber et al., 2012). The large area of dark and cold Shackleton slopes supports the absorption of volatiles by exposed fine unconsolidated mineral particles. Downslope accumulation of granular material due to surface erosion formed layers of sediments enriched in such volatiles. The objective boundaries of such slope deposits are identifiable only on the basis of special geomorphometric variables. Based on this, we suggest organization of an artificial impact in such specific places to generate an explosion, permitting identification of spectra with a focus on water traces.
