the Indonesian government held an isbat (confirmation) meeting to determine the start of the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, astronomy experts, and several Islamic organizations.
The sighting committee said that the new moon has not been visible tonight and therefore the first day of Ramadan would fall on March 12.
