While the focus for holiday makers and vacationers is often the Strip, this is not the original Vegas and arguably the least interesting one.
The Vegas most people recognise from movies and TV shows is actually the old Las Vegas, situated on Fremont St. in the downtown area.
This is the area of neon signage, wedding chapels, bars, and the original casinos. While the casino corporations have a habit of blowing up historic buildings to make way for mega-resorts on the strip, the Fremont St. area remains largely preserved by comparison, in-part due to the drop in popularity of the area.
