In January 1967, Nigeria’s military leaders met at Peduase Lodge in Aburi, Ghana, in a final attempt to prevent national disintegration. Present were Yakubu Gowon, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and members of the Supreme Military Council, under the mediation of Lt. Gen. Joseph Ankrah.

This meeting was meant to save Nigeria. Instead, it became the moment its fate was sealed.
