How to Solder On a Two Part Gold Bail Using Soldering Clay -In this metalsmithing tutorial video, I will demonstrate how to solder on a bail and jumpring on to a pendant. In part 1, we will use a magnesia block to position the jump ring at the correct height for soldering. In part two of this video we will use soldering clay to keep the jump ring from moving while we solder the bail closed. Lots of beginner goldsmiths are nervous learning to solder gold jewelry but I will show that goldsmithing techniques are based on the same jewelry soldering principles I teach in my book and all of my videos.This metalsmithing soldering technique is identical whether silversmithing or goldsmithing.
