Universal Design for Learning is very effective when working with autistic students.

Sam Johnston, Director of Postsecondary & Workforce Development at CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology), explains that Universal Design for Learning is designed to support variability that exists in any learning environment. Autistic students are a natural part of that variability. Many UDL guidelines are very effective when teaching autistic students. For example, Using multiple media in representing information and designing a clear syllabus letting students know that additional learning supports are available are two great ways to implement UDL.
