The Amazones du Roi Behanzin project is a contemporary dance show which has toured in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo and in Ghana in 2023. This show traces the lives of these Amazon women warriors who fought alongside King Béhanzin, the King of Dahomey, now Benin. Through a universe completely reversed from the past, the dancers relive this moment that marked all of Dahomey and all of Africa at the end of the 19th century. They were women who were free vigorous independent muscular and who lived by and for themselves.
