The PA Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) LEED Platinum and Passive House addition, is very unique, as it retrofits a historic building that is adjacent to PHFA’s existing headquarters located on 211 Front Street and it incorporates an 8-story tower that is behind the historic building. In addition to the LEED Platinum elements, there are two Passive House systems designed in the project: one retrofitting the historical building and the other is designed in the new tower. To date, this is the only corporate building with these unique design elements in the United States.
In this video, Architect Benedict Dubbs of Murray Associates Architecture and Jamie Sweigart of The High Concrete Group discuss the unusual elements in the addition and explain the design and production behind some very interesting architectural solutions.
