The 5,600 km Wall: Why Australia Built the World's Longest Fence

Описание: Australia has built some of the longest fences in the world and they've reshaped the entire continent.

It started with a desperate attempt to stop a rabbit plague. Then came the Dingo Fence: 5,600 kilometers of wire stretching across three states to protect the sheep industry. These barriers divided Australia into completely different ecological environments and you can see the difference from space.

This is the story of Australia's great fences: from the Rabbit-Proof Fence that failed before it was finished, to the Dingo Fence that succeeded but triggered a continental-scale ecological experiment. Along the way, we'll explore the Great Emu War, the camels that built fences, and how a barrier can literally change where clouds form.

*NOTES: I didn't mention the film "The Rabbit-Proof Fence" in the video. I hope this video give some extra context about the scope of the fence if you do watch the film.
