An examination under oath is when the insurance company takes the policyholder's statement under oath. Generally what happens is the insurance company will hire its own lawyer at that time to represent it and to take that statement from the insured policyholder. We recommend that an insured policyholder hire their own attorney at that time to be with them and be present during the examination and to protect their interest.
