Can you eliminate prompting from your language facilitation for 7 days?

This video describes the replacement strategies parents can use instead of prompting kids to say words.

STEP ONE:
Check this list and do some self-analysis to identify which of the prompting behaviors you are using frequently:

✅ You ask your child a lot of "yes/no" questions.
✅ You ask your child to expand their words into sentences.
✅ You withhold objects until your child talks.
✅ You use "fill in the blank" phrases like, "Cow says...."
✅ You say single words and have your child repeat them.
✅ You ask your child to point to objects or pictures you know they already know.
✅ You sing the same songs over and over to get your child to learn the words and phrases.
✅ You ask your child to name pictures or objects.

STEP TWO:
Watch this video to learn the replacement behavior.

STEP THREE:
Choose 2-3 specific times during the day to be 100% Prompt-FREE!

Good Luck!

WARNING: If your child is heavily prompt-dependent, they may actually talk less the first week. That is a good sign and means your child is listening to you more.

Parents should see new joint attention in and focus on parents talking AND maybe even your children will start to imitate words independently with 7 days of eliminating prompting and incorporating these new strategies.
