After spending most of the day in frustration, trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, I finally managed to get most of the key and chest functionality moved to their ZScript classes.
A this point, I have a simple ACS script that teleports an actor with a TID and destination coordinates supplied by the ZScript classes, plus a script that renders the key counter on the lower-right corner.
