From 1998 to 2024, four films from Iranian cinema have been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. These four films consist of Children of Heaven (1998), directed by Majid Majidi
A Separation(2011), directed by Asghar Farhadi, this film also won the award
The Salesman(2016), directed by Asghar Farhadi, this film too won the award
The Seed of the Sacred Fig (2024), directed by Mohammad Rasoulof, this film was represented by Germany
In this video, I discuss how these films first came about in Iranian cinema, in other words i briefly explore the history of Iranian films that have been influencing the mentioned films, and secondly, what was the political context of Iran at the time, and finally, how these films represent Iran and the United States' relations.
