This week a great remake of the Rayman 3 came out by Marked as Unreal! I really enjoyed playing the normal mode so I decided to postpone my Celeste videos a bit and try the challenge modes too. However, both "Time is money and you're running outta both" and "Absolute Havoc" are really brutal and it took me hours to find a path that is both fast and also brings enough points.
The trickiest strategies I've implemented:
Looking at the first Matuvu from below with the gems.
Being fast enough at the first section (cca 470+ points at the end of the button cutscene) allows going for the top circle first. By dropping down after collecting the top Matuvu you can get the bottom one with x3 combo, i.e. +570 points when compared to my original strategy of cleaning half of the ground directly for a cost of using "the mechanism" twice.
First-person view for the piggybanks as it's hard to not get stuck in the archs.
Going for the first "combat fatigue" before dropping down for +910 points.
Looking up to Matuvu directly from Tribelle in the 3rd part while under the powerup effect for +500 points. Unfortunately I missed that in this run.
In the fairy area by going for all the Podocrocks and also the screw platforms before looking at Matuvu you can get to x3 combo, which gives astonishing +1500 points.
Collecting the powerup in the final room before hitting the surviving Crab Ninja gives enough time to collect 5 gems and to look at Matuvu at x2 combo, giving +550 extra points when compared to a straightforward solution.
Discovering the secret at the top of that room. I saw the green gem only after multiple hours, that's mostly why this challenge took me so much time (I got 6140 points from this in this run). It's even possible to get the green gem with x2 combo by skipping the screw platform (you can jump up from the stones next to the entrance), hitting it from the top, looking at Matuvu and collecting all yellow gems before the green one. But it's so tight that it isn't worth it for this challenge :D
As far as I know, the 6595 is the current world record. Still, this run was far from perfect as I missed one Matuvu combo and I even haven't found the last one yet, I also made a few mistakes in platforming. However, the most critical thing in this challenge is not to die at the hoverboard section as the score drops extremely fast.
I've spent some time on the "Absolute Havoc" mode too, but it looks way too brutal for me. Maybe I'll try it again later but with this run I am happy for now :D
