This sacred hymn was composed by the revered Chandrashekarendra Saraswati, lovingly known as Mahaperiyava, to guide unmarried devotees seeking auspicious marriage blessings.
He instructed devotees to worship Kamakshi during the holy month of Thai (January–February), especially on Fridays and Tuesdays. Lighting the Kamakshi lamp, performing 7 Deepa Pradakshina, and chanting this powerful prayer with faith is believed to remove obstacles and grant Kalyana Bhagyam (marriage blessings).
In the line “Kuru Kalyanam,” the Acharya beautifully invokes divine grace — meaning both benevolence and the blessing of sacred marriage.
This prayer is found in devotional literature dedicated to the Acharya and Kamakshi Upasana traditions.
